Fenwick Woodstream 6wt Fly Rod & Martin 67A Reel Combo with Prestige Floating Fly Line and Prestige 20 lb Backing/100 Yards, and RIO 2X 7.5FT Leader

What Are You Going To Need:

  • Spool/Reel (Martin 67A)
  • Backing (White River Prestige 20lb/100 yards, 6wt)
  • Fly Line (White River Prestige Floating Fly Line)
  • Leader (Rio Leader)

Step 1: Put Backing Onto Spool/Reel Via Arbor Knot

How much do you need?

Just enough to give the fly line a good base, you will likely never see the backing again unless you are fishing carp or saltwater species.

Step 2: Attaching Fly Line

Connect the Line: Thread the end of the fly line through the reel’s line guides.

b. Secure the Fly Line: Tie the fly line to the backing using a nail knot or similar strong knot. Make sure the knot is smooth and tight.

c. Wind the Fly Line: Carefully wind the fly line onto the reel over the backing, keeping it evenly distributed and under slight tension to avoid tangles.

Step 3: Adding The Leader

Leaders should be a consideration every time you go out to fish. these can easily be changed and should be kept in good shape to continually catch fish. choose the weight/strength of the leader by the type of fish you are going after and, the size of the fly you will be using. The length of the leader can also fluctuate based on the depth you are fishing, the fly line type, and the location you are fishing.
